Spring is officially here! My early memories of spring are mostly easter related. I remember the candy, lipstick eggs, egg hunts, pastels, the fake easter basket grass, flowers, easter's spent with my dad's side off the family, dying eggs and my moms decorations. I also remember getting a new spring/easter church outfit each year. The last one I remember was a long purple skirt my mom made me when I was in high school. But as an adult I don't have many springtime memories. While I was in college our winters would just go pretty much straight into summer. At least that is how I remember it. I think of spring as the transition between the cold snowy winter, to the warm sunny summer. Lately I have been hearing cute birds chirping as we wake up, the flowers are popping up, it is light out longer and the sun is coming out more often. I am excited to see the earth livening things up these next few weeks. Can you believe April is right around the corner? I can't.

|| Christmas Melodies ||

I am one who can't/tries not to listen to Christmas music till after Thanksgiving and it ends for me on Christmas day. I like to reserve them for this cozy time of year. Above are some of my favorite Christmas albums. If you are in need of a new holiday soundtrack check out these. Each I have had for at least a few years{actually the A Fine Frenzy album was from last year} and they still remain favorites. My two favorite Christmas songs are Still, Still, Still, Away in a Manger and In the Bleak Midwinter, so beautiful. This year I learned a pretty German song that I really love called O du fröhliche, here is a similar version to the one we sang in Church. Ha, funny video though. What are your favorite songs that fill your Christmas season? What are some of your favorite Christmas albums?

|| New Mixx ||

I have a new mix for you!

This mix, like all the mixes, has been in the works for a while so that I could carefully choose each song. This mix was inspired by our drive to Luzern in October. When we were driving there, we put my ipod on shuffle and many of these songs made it on the drive and has now made it to this mix. It is always great to have a good mix of songs playing while driving. Your dudes will even like it. These picks are some of my favorites from their albums of some recent albums I have acquired and some albums from recent months. Also, there is a Kris Orlowski song on there from a musician I recently blogged about! 

If you are new to the downloading mixes, it is super easy. Just a few clicks and you can open up each song and copy them all or selected ones to put into your music player. Hopefully, you have itunes that works the easiest. You should have itunes anyway. If you have questions let me know. I have prepared for you my Autumn Mixx. Songs that are perfect for Autumn. You could carve a pumpkin, crunch leaves, bake apple pie and drink apple cider to it. I am obsessed with the Gotye song I put on the mix. Obsessed, that song is so good...make sure you listen to it all the through because towards the middle is when it m.e.l.t.s me. This mix will make you want to lay in a bed of red, orange and yellow leaves while looking up at the blue sky and pulling your scarf and jacket in close. Download it, here.

|| Anniversary//and a Mixx! ||

We have now been married for the little big 4 months. Such a small number to feel so big. We were married April 23rd in Seattle and what a great day that was. This also makes 4 months of us living over here in chocolate, cheese and mountain land...Switzerland. We have not become experts in anything, we are still trying to figure out life and how to live as a married couple. We have loved our 4 months however hard at times it has felt...living so far and in a foreign place has become quite the heartache for me. We grow closer each day and better at the whole marriage thing each day. I look forward to future days with my Jachen and the surprises and challenges that await us. In celebration of our little big anniversary I have prepared for whomever would like, a "not so ordinary love" mix. Meaning these aren't necessary lovely dovey songs...of course not, who do you think I am?, but will get you thinking about your lover or lack of lover or just good tunes to listen too. It has been awhile since I have favored you with a mix. I always have a mix in the works and this one is finally ready. This is a mix of my favorite songs from my newest albums. I absolutely love each of the albums and you will love this mix/sample of each album to take with you wherever you go.
Annie Williams | This Mountain ^^^ Beautiful acoustic music you will love.
Beirut | The Ripe Tide ^^^ This may be my new favorite Beirut album. Typically I think that Beirut has an acquired voice and sound, but somehow this album has a fresh new feel to it while still sound just like Beirut. Such a great album, every song worthy.
Bombay Bicycle Club | Flaws ^^^ I only recently discovered this exciting band and thanks to my friend Aubree I now own this album. I love Jack's, the lead vocals, voice. I actually posted on of their music videos recently on her so you may find one of the songs familiar. For sure a great album and worthy of your ears.
Broken Bells | Broken Bells ^^^ So happy about this album. Every song is grand. Best part? The best part it's a project with the lead singer of The Shins{who I love}. This album to me feels like a fresher/funkier version of Shins' music. I highly recommend this album.
Florence And The Machine | Lungs ^^^ How have I not had her whole album till recently? I have loved her for a while now, but somehow thought I didn't like her album. Well turns out I love it. I especially love the two I added to this mix which you probably have not heard unless you have this album.
Foster the People | Torches ^^^ Again, another great album. If you like the two in the mix you will love the whole album.
Fruit Bats | Tripper ^^^ I have heard about this band off and on, but never stopped to check them out. Well I slap my wrist. This album is so great...like all the rest of the albums in this mix...I say, where has this been all my life? If you like the ones in the mix you will like all of Tripper.
Mat Kearney | Young Love ^^^ Mat, oh mat. There will always be a special place in my heart for his music. He for sure is not for everyone{sometimes he like talks/raps, but its fab}, but his music is so fun, full and catchy. Every album of his I love, a big especially for his past album City of Black & White which you should buy. Young Love is just that...the whole album feels like "young love". This is def a get up and dance album. I still remember when I saw him live years ago{remember Kerianne and Steph?} and how his music beat into my chest.
Young Man | Boy ^^^ This is my newest album. I would say this album feels like Bon Iver meets William Fitzsimmons meets another awesome band that I can't figure out meets a tambourine meets a really awesome lazy summer at the beach. So love it.

It is Summer, have you noticed?? I sure have, the heat is insane...as well as the summer storms frequent. It is well into Summer now, but I have been meaninggg to post this since day one. I have a Summer music mixx for you!! The reason I haven't posted it yet is because I had been fine tuning it. Finally, it is ready. If I could have a movie about myself during Summer, this would be the soundtrack to that movie. I can just picture each song and how it could fit into that movie. I hope this mix, or various songs on the mix, fill your summer days, long drives, while at the campfire, bike rides, trips to the beach, as you sit by the pool and while lazily sitting in the shade with a picnic. We all have a beautiful connection to Summer, I hope this can make it more beautiful...and fun.

Sweet

This is a little delayed, but have you SEEN THIS MOVIE?? Hanna, it is. Jachen and I saw it on our honeymoon back in April and we have both been itching, dying and craving to see this movie again. I describe this movie as sweet. And not the cutesy sweet of course, but the I can't believe how cool that was, kind. The sweet lighting and music is well, sweet. There is this one scene where the music goes with the lighting, gah! I kinda felt like after I saw the new Tron movie, that I too described as "sweet" and "I can't believe that just happened". We would go see Hanna in the theatre again, but movies cost an arm and a leg here so we are waiting to rent it on itunes...oh the suspense that is building! Clearly there is some violence in the movie, but nothing out of "normal". There was also a nice level of humor as well, which is always refreshing. I wont say anything more about the film, but you can download some of the soundtrack HERE, lucky you, to get a taste at what the movie sounds like. The Chemical Brothers composed the whole soundtrack, I am starting to like that trend...like unto how the score for Tron was by Daft Punk. Brilliant. Oh, duh, go see this movie!

I love music, still...that hasn't changed and i wanted to make some recommendations. A few of these I have mentioned before, but I wanted to share again. 1. {Oh Land} each song on her new album is so lively, fun and beautiful. Great songs for cruising in the car or dancing to while cleaning your house. I have done both. $7.99 on itunes
2. {The Head and the Heart} is a lovely piano, violin, acoustic guitar, drum, shaker, cowbell, happy, upbeat, 6 person...band. Each song on this album is superb and I own the album and vinyl. That is how much i love it. $9.90 on itunes
3. {Ellie Goulding}'s Lights album is full of sparkly pop songs. Her beats have you car dancing and dancing at home. This is a fun album full of great songs. $7.99 on itunes
4. {Agnes Obel} is a beautifully melodic piano playing artist. Her music is soothing and sooo beautiful. Again, every song on this album is great, there is not a one I don't love. $9.99 on itunes.
5. {James Vincent McMorrow}'s ablum Early In the Morning is my newest album. I love it. His voice is this yummy sultry/raspy sound, his voice has me sold. Every song is brilliant and beautiful. I can't believe this album is only NOW in my belonging. $6.99 on itunes
6. {Fleet Foxes} album Helplessness Blues is an album I have been waiting for since their first album came out 2 years ago. The best way to explain their music is that it feels like the best road trip through the plains and mountains, other than that you just know it when you feel it. However, I must warn you their song The Shrine/An Argument...the end of it has me cringing. I can't handle weird tooting of horns, but other than that 1 minute the album is perfection. $9.99 on itunes.
