bits of my life

some random photos and happenings of my life this year i have yet to share.

i have made many yarn balls in the last few weeks mostly for my wedding and some for fun like these crazy colored ones. i found great colors of yarn super cheap and knew just what to do with it.

remember when i went through my boxes in the shed? well, i found this gem. when stephanie and i were working in vermont one summer, we were eating at EBAs and got to talking about our brother jacob and we wrote down reasons we love him. i found that napkin we wrote on. such a good list.

my dad is an amazing cook. here are two meals as of late. the rice dish, from the meal on the right, is a mexican rice that he dyed red with the beat juice from the beats. so delicious.

i may have bribed leah with chocolate covered gummy bears to take this photo. i think she may have been scared of her new friend till i whipped out those gummy bears.

i have been babysitting a lot lately these nieces of mine. sure love them. they are such sweet girls.

logs for my wedding :) that was quite the adventure getting these loaded up. i sure got a work out that day.

my sweet babies. i love being an aunt. i can't wait till my sister steph has her baby in a few months! i sure hope the little guy comes before i move to switzerland.

a lot of wedding shopping with my sister and nieces. thanks girls for keeping your cool...for most of the time.

i taped her nose up. i did clara's nose too, but that photo will not be released to the public because i don't think her momma would approve of me posting it....but it was really really funny.

my days are busy and my mind FULL. it is making my days fly by, yet another weekend has passed.

I am in love with these pieces from the Need Supply Co. I don't love the prices nor do i love every piece in the store, but I would gladly take these home. pretty.

red again!

this is my third time dyeing my hair red and it is such a fun treat. i am only brave enough to use a box washout kind so this box is what i have done every time. (however the last two times were a slightly different shade of red, but basically the same) i highly recommend this way of dyeing hair if you are unsure or just want a new color every once in a while. this color is a tint of red when looking at it in normal light and then in bright light(or in these pictures with the flash) the red stands out a lot more. so its a nice surprise and not to crazy bold. i also love that in a few months(after like 20 washes) it will be faded out and i don't have to worry about fixing roots or continue to die it to keep it up. i also love this brand for its conditioner that comes with it. it makes my hair smell good and feel soo soft. if you have thick hair, like me, you will need two boxes. two boxes was almost not enough for my hair. ha. also, two random tips...don't wear makeup when doing it, luckily i didn't or my makeup would have gone everywhere whilst rinsing in the bath. also, don't wear a collared shirt it will be obnoxious when getting soaked under the water.

can't wait to see it tomorrow!

while loading up my cart with napkins the other day at ikea, i stuck these two in my cart. oh man, i have managed to scarf both of these down! granted i have given a few away, but i win the prize for eating the most. hazelnut cookies and raspberry filled cookies! two favorites of mine. some people like to stay away from these things before their wedding...i however welcomed them in. but good thing ikea is too far to go and get more. (and if you know of anywhere else that sells them don't tell me). isn't it a rule you're not allowed to gain weight before your wedding anyway? right? i heard that right, right?

get in my belly.

tonight i made my best smoothie yet. i am feeling a bit under the weather so instead of my usual emergen-c in water i thought i would pour that packet in a fruit smoothie. my only regret is that i slurped it down all too fast.

what was in it?
1 packet of orange emergen-c
1 banana
1 activa raspberry yogurt
8 frozen strawberries
handful of frozen blueberries
a few ice cubes
a little bit of milk

simple enough.
note: do not take emergen-c right before bed. i made that mistake once and was up wide awake for hours. too bad i didn't read the packet where it said "super energy booster".

owl love you forever.

i never would have thought that pink let alone baby pink would be a color at my wedding. yet it is and i love it. wedding plans have me so busy especially since the number of days and weeks remaining are getting smaller and smaller. i have yet to pack a single thing either. oh man, time is just slipping away.

I recently watched...twice in a row...THIS movie that josh is in. a few slightly sketchy parts, but really cute. i am a fan of it.

egypt.

 lately i have been reflecting on egypt and the events that have been happening there recently. that led me to reflect on my own experience there. last night i was reading my journal entries i typed up onto my blog, here. it is so great to be able to read what i wrote and remember each of those moments. i really can picture them in my head. i am so grateful for my desire to keep a detailed journal of my time there. it would be so sad if i had forgotten what i did, thought and saw there. i hope i always keep a detailed journal of my journeys. it was great to start my Switzerland blog when i was living there so my goal is to continue that in my upcoming life in switzerland and all my jet setting. it is such a great feeling to be able to relive those wonderful experiences.

i sure hope things start repairing real fast in egypt so i can go again in the next few years.

top model cycle 16

i am sooo excited for this season of top model.
one of my favorite shows for sure. i love seeing the photoshoots, makeup and beautiful photo outcomes. and i love all that stuff in between. i think this is the only reality show that i really love and watch on a normal basis. i will watch seasons over and over in fact.

clara, you are sooo cute.

my niece clara is.so.cute. i can't handle it! i smother her with kisses any second i can. tonight i went to visit and the first thing she did was walk up to me and asked for my phone to talk to jachen. of course she said it in her kid language. but i knew what she meant...she knew my phone was in my purse. so funny. so i got it out and she, per usual, "talked to jachen". she loves "talking" to him so much. as you can see HERE. the funny thing is with the first and second video, i was whispering because my sister was reading to leah, my other niece, on the couch. i think clara was confused by my whispering so she didnt say much and when she did she whispered too. oh man alive! she is cute.



i love how she walks around the room when she talks to him.


and this one, so funny. she is such a chatterbox. here we were at a fabric store and she was freaking out with boredom, so i handed her the phone to talk to jachen. works like a charm.

bags, bags and bags. oh my.

i would LOVVVEE this as my carry on roller suitcase! which i do need. oh me oh my. i love navy stripes and then with the camel color. sign me up!

i need a new carry on purse/bag. the big purse that i use on flights is on the frits. it can't go through another flight with my heavy laptop in it. these two bags would be a great replacement.

oh my. this blue purse. not only is that blue a dream but i love the size of this bag. and i sure love a bag with buckle straps.

i love these men's backpacks. the colors are so great. i would want them for my back.

i love these lovely shoes. if i had extra moola in my wallet i would buy every last one of these...even if a few of them are slightly the same shoe. oh also, i would have to have room in my suitcase to take them with me to switzerland.

i love LOVE brooke waggoner. you have got to listen to her. she has such unique and refreshing music. the piano in her music is insane, her voice the coolest simplicity and you just know her music is her. and that red hair. just love it. i love her style all around. goodness gracious.

the eagle

this movie looks visually beautiful, however the only reason i want to see it is because of the guy on the right....no not the guy on the left. i could care less for him. i doubt this movie can make channing tatum a good actor for once. but i love jamie bell, he is a favorite.

x-man's baby shower

My nephew's, baby xander, cookies and milk baby shower was this past saturday at our (my parents) house. it was great seeing people i don't get to see too often, chatting, enjoying company and seeing the gifts for the little guy. my sister natalie is to thank for the great decorations. natalie, our other sister steph and i made the cookies. what fun way to spend the afternoon.
