Day Four//We left around 9am and had the most beautiful drive to Italy. Seriously breathtaking alps we went through. I think the drive there was my favorite part of the day. Also Lugano Switzerland, the Italian city in the Italian region of Switzerland, was GORGEOUS. OH my. I would love to go back there again and I highly recommend that city if you find yourself in Switzerland one summer.

We drove along lake Lugano into Italy on the narrowest streets...a few times I had to close my eyes because I was too nervous we would side swipe cars...but of course my euro husband is skilled at such narrow driving and we made it in one piece. Coming up to Lake Como in Italy was so beautiful too. We drove to the village called Menaggio which was so so beautiful. There we walked around for a bit, sat under a beautiful canopy on the water and ate lunch, Jachen and I got gelato Jachen-watermelon and pistachio, me-pistachio{my favorite gelato flavor} and coconut{amazing too} and then we headed over to the boat docking and road a boat over to the village Varenna. Varenna is super small and on a really narrow cliff and was a beautiful example of an Italian cliff village. However beautiful it was we weren't too into climbing those steep stairways in the hot hot weather that was going on. So we ate more gelato this time, Jachen-yogurt, me-lemon.

The plan was that the Nylands would take a train from Varenna to Milan and so we left them there and headed back on a boat to Menaggio. Jachen and I planned on eating pizza for dinner in Menaggio, but we were too hot and not in the mood for food so we walked around a bit more, explored some churches and then headed home. On the way we stopped at a grocery store in Italy for something to eat for dinner on the way home. I was hoping to find something "Italian" there, but we ended up just getting bread and salami meat...one of our favorite things to eat in Switzerland.

So that was our trip. Enjoy a little video of some of the video I took yesterday, I wish I took more...I need to be better about remembering to take video.

this is beautiful and probably my favorite update yet. I am biased however, it is my dream to go to Italy. Australia and Italy are my two #1 must go places. I havent decided where it Italy I'm going to go yet because theres SO much to see. I'd like to go to Naples...but also see Venice and Rome. Now with these pictures this end of Italy is gorgeous!!! sigh. i wish i was rich and could travel the world whenever I wanted. I am hoping a Europe trip will happen next summer.

there is soooo much i want to comment on. First, great video, and great song...what is it? That fast part with the drive, perfect pairing. Amazing mountains, and beautiful lake, wow. what a beautiful world we have. Love little Henry and his noises, so cute. Love the photo of the 3 Nylands on the boat, so candid and cute. LOVE that walking path on the water, oh my gosh, seriously, it is so amazing. And gelato, yummmm.

Jennifer-As beautiful as these places were and how amazingly stunning lake como is, I think you could do without it. I think sticking to Venice and Rome would be best. Much more to see. There really wasn't a whole lot to see or do in Menaggio and Varenna. It was beautiful, but then you are there and are like...okay what now. You know what I mean? I hope you can make it to Europe soon.

Nat-The song is called Ash Black Veil by Apparat. We did go see some amazing places that day, and honestly, Switzerland keeps surprising me. The Italian town Lugano in Switzerland is seriously gorgeous. I might have to spend some time there one day this summer. Yes, that picture of them on the boat is great, ha. There was another one that was really cute of henry but steph was making a funny face so I chose that one instead.

Yes, gelato is seriously good. AND that pistachio gelato is THE best. I could eat that every day of my life. And if I was living in Italy, I would.

I wish you could have seen these places with your own eyes. I was thinking of you while I was there wishing you could be there.
